Annual conference of the ISREC Foundation
Our annual conference took place on October 28. The event provided an ideal opportunity to honor the people advancing cancer research and to reflect on future challenges.
We were greatly honored to welcome Roger Nordmann, a member of the State Council of the Canton of Vaud and head of the Department of Health and Social Action. In his address, he highlighted the complementarity between public action and philanthropy, the challenges of ensuring equal access to healthcare, and the importance of supporting the next generation of scientists in order to pave the way for future advances.
The evening also served to honor the beneficiaries of the 2026 TANDEM program: seven teams, consisting of scientists and clinicians, working on ambitious projects with the shared goal of bringing research ever closer to clinical practice and the needs of cancer patients.
This was followed by a roundtable discussion with Dr. Isabelle Soerjomataram, Prof. Olivier Michielin and Prof. Dominique Foray about the major cancer-related challenges to be expected in the years ahead. The participants exchanged views on demographic and epidemiological developments, therapeutic advances, prevention, access to care, novel technologies, and the capacity of our healthcare systems to assist these changes.
These discussions served as a reminder of a principle that lies at the very heart of the ISREC Foundation’s work: the most promising advances arise at the intersection of different disciplines, institutions, and areas of expertise.
The ISREC Foundation significantly contributes to the fight against cancer by supporting collaborations between research and clinical settings, by building bridges, and by providing innovative projects with the means to grow.
THANK YOU to our speakers, to the 2026 TANDEM program beneficiaries, to our donors, and to everyone in attendance for their commitment to our cause and for the enriching discussions.
