Choosing the right contraceptive can prevent breast cancer. A study conducted by the research teams of Prof. Cathrin Brisken, MD PhD at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, shows that contraceptive-related breast cancer can be prevented by more informed choices regarding the composition of contraceptives. The ISREC Foundation has contributed financially to Prof. Brisken’s work.
Congratulations to Prof. Elisa Oricchio (EPFL)! She has been awarded the Leenaards Foundation Science Prize for her work on the immune system, together with Prof. Caroline Arber (CHUV-UNIL) and Prof. Bruno Correia (EPFL). The ISREC Foundation is proud to have supported Prof. Oricchio’s research.
The ISREC Foundation wishes to thank Prof. Johanna Joyce of the University of Lausanne for chairing the AGORA Scientific Committee since May 2019. Her commitment has enabled the coordinated and efficient setup, development and organization of the scientific activities despite the many challenges imposed by the pandemic, and these achievements will undoubtedly lead to numerous fruitful collaborations. The ISREC Foundation is very grateful to Prof. Joyce and thanks her for her huge effort in this crucial phase.
Prof. Joyce is now handing over her position to Prof. Michele De Palma of the EPFL, whom we wish all the best in his new function.
We very much look forward to continuing our collaboration with these outstanding scientists.
The ISREC Foundation is proud to have contributed to the research of Prof. Ping-Chih Ho, who has published a new study on the revitalization of exhausted T lymphocytes in Nature Immunology.
Congratulations to Prof. Denis Migliorini – ISREC Foundation Immuno-Oncology Chair – for his contribution to the guidelines of the Swiss Neuro-Oncology Society.
Congratulations to Prof. Elisa Oricchio for her publication in the prestigious journals Nature Genetics and Nature Communications.
The article explains how cancer cells modify the three-dimensional DNA structure to enhance the activity of so-called “oncogenes” that predispose to cancer.
Prof. Elisa Oricchio’s work was supported by the ISREC Foundation.
Congratulations to Prof. Ping-Chih Ho of the Ludwig Cancer Research Lausanne Branch, who has received the “Melanoma Research Alliance” Award. The ISREC Foundation supports Prof. Ho’s work.
Prof. Mikaël Pittet, holder of the ISREC Foundation’s Immune Oncology chair, was a guest on “CQFD”, a science and health program on RTS (Radio Télévision Suisse), in which, each Friday, scientists talk about their work and research. Among other things, the conversation with Prof. Mikaël Pittet addressed the hopes set on immunotherapies in the fight against cancer.
Congratulations to George Sflomos! A scientist in Prof. Cathrin Brisken’s lab (EPFL), he has developed a revolutionary in vivo model for the investigation of a serious and poorly studied type of breast cancer. This achievement, supported by the ISREC Foundation, opens up new perspectives for the development of novel therapies.
