Congratulations to the teams of Prof. George Coukos and Prof. Melita Irving, both working at CHUV/UNIL. In collaboration with EPFL scientists, they have developed a system to counter certain toxic side effects of immunotherapies, thus providing new hope for the treatment of solid tumors. Congratulations to Prof. Douglas Hanahan who is being appointed Distinguished Scholar of Ludwig. A pioneering molecular biologist and renowned cancer researcher, Douglas Hanahan is director of ISREC@epfl since 2009.

Congratulations to Efe Erdes for his publication in the “Journal for ImmunoTherapy of Cancer”. His article describes the chronic TCR-MHC interactions that limit the functional potential of TCR affinity-increased CD8 T lymphocytes. His research, performed in the lab of Dr. Nathalie Rufer (Oncology Department, UNIL/CHUV), was supported by the ISREC foundation.
