World Cancer Day takes place every year on February 4 to unite the world in the fight against cancer. This day aims to raise awareness by spreading information concerning the disease.

On the occasion of the World Cancer Day and within the framework of the Réseau Romand d’Oncologie, two afternoons for professionals and two conference evenings for a general audience will be held simultaneously in Geneva and Lausanne. The programme includes various talks supported by the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Vaudois (CHUV) and the Hôpitaux Universitaires de Genève (HUG), and given by specialists in the field.

Congratulations to Prof. Etienne Meylan’s team at isrec@epfl on their publication in the renowned “CELL Reports” journal. They are performing research on the theme “Neutrophils and snail orchestrate the establishment of a pro-tumor microenvironment in lung cancer”. Special congratulations go to Svenja Groeneveld, co-author of this article and holder of an ISREC Foundation grant.

Congratulations to Dr. Nathalie Rufer and her research groups in the oncology department of the CHUV, the UNIL and the LICR on the publication of their work in the renowned “JCI Insight” journal. This research on the optimization of T-lymphocytes for cancer immunotherapy was performed with the support of the ISREC Foundation.
