World Cancer Day takes place every year on February 4 to unite the world in the fight against cancer. This day aims to raise awareness by spreading information concerning the disease.
On the occasion of the World Cancer Day and within the framework of the Réseau Romand d’Oncologie, two afternoons for professionals and two conference evenings for a general audience will be held simultaneously in Geneva and Lausanne. The programme includes various talks supported by the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Vaudois (CHUV) and the Hôpitaux Universitaires de Genève (HUG), and given by specialists in the field.

Congratulations to Prof. Etienne Meylan’s team at isrec@epfl on their publication in the renowned “CELL Reports” journal. They are performing research on the theme “Neutrophils and snail orchestrate the establishment of a pro-tumor microenvironment in lung cancer”. Special congratulations go to Svenja Groeneveld, co-author of this article and holder of an ISREC Foundation grant.
The ISREC Foundation will be the fortunate beneficiary of a charity banquet organized by Estelle Ducret and Andrea Orlando to support cancer research. Congratulations to Prof. Michael N. Hall, a member of our scientific board, who has won the prestigious Albert-Lasker Award for his fundamental discoveries in the area of cell growth regulation.
Once again, the SUR-SRP “Summer Research” program (July 3 to August 25), organized by the UNIL and the EPFL and supported by the ISREC Foundation, was a huge success. The students returned home with many new impressions and ideas, grateful for this exciting opportunity.

Since 1998, the Club Team Girard, including owners, riders and fans of vintage motorcycles, organizes a yearly hill climb event for old-timers and donates part of the profits to the ISREC Foundation.

Congratulations to Dr. Nathalie Rufer and her research groups in the oncology department of the CHUV, the UNIL and the LICR on the publication of their work in the renowned “JCI Insight” journal. This research on the optimization of T-lymphocytes for cancer immunotherapy was performed with the support of the ISREC Foundation.
Prof. Elisa Oricchio’s lab, supported by the ISREC Foundation, is paving the way for new treatment options in the area of follicular lymphoma, a cancer for which there is currently no cure.
