Congratulations to the research teams led by Prof. Elisa Oricchio (ISREC Foundation professorship from 2016 to 2020) and Prof. Bruno Correia at EPFL, who have developed a novel method for the improvement of cancer treatments.

The scientists have created a modular drug platform that conjugates specific inhibitors with antibodies. These combinations, called APICs, make it possible to deliver the inhibitors specifically to the cancer cells, thereby reducing side effects and increasing therapeutic efficacy.

10th edition of this fund-raising event organized by volunteers in memory of their friend Agostino who died of cancer.

Each year, approximately fifty volunteers contribute to the success of various tournaments and activities, enabling the organizers to make a significant donation to our foundation’s projects.

Many thanks to the Clinique AMiiA which, on the occasion of its 1st anniversary, chose to support cancer research, and in particular a research project on breast cancer!

In the fight against cancer, every contribution counts, and we are profoundly grateful to Marie de Riedmatten and Dr. Debora Schivo, co-founders and co-directors of the Clinique AMiiA, who have organized this initiative for our cause. This commendable support testifies to their compassion and solidarity with those affected by cancer.

Thanks to this generous gesture, we are one step closer to understanding this disease and improving much-needed treatments.

Many thanks once again to the Clinique AMiiA for their invaluable support!

Congratulations to Prof. Franco Cavalli: the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) has presented him with the “Distinguished Public Service Award for Lifetime Achievement in Cancer Research” 2024.

This award honors Prof. Cavalli for his remarkable scientific accomplishments and his impactful contributions to the development of cancer therapeutics.

For almost 20 years, this internationally acclaimed lymphoma and breast cancer expert has selflessly shared his boundless energy and insight with the Foundation Council of the ISREC Foundation. From 2008 to 2021, he was the president of its Scientific Board.

Heartfelt THANKS to all the members of this association! Thanks to their efforts, an amazing CHF 150’000.- were raised for the purchase of a BeaQuant-S device for the AGORA center’s molecular imaging lab.

In nuclear medicine, the detection of tumors in a PET scan requires the intravenous administration of radioactive tracers. Prof. Margret Schottelius and her research groups are working on the development of novel tracers for the study and quantification of tumoral cells. Thanks to this innovative device, which affords a resolution 1000-fold higher than that of a PET scan, the imaging capacity of the AGORA center will reach a whole new level of precision.

The ECHEC AU CANCER DE LA BROYE Association has been supporting cancer research for 28 years, and has, to date, donated an impressive total of CHF 337’000.- to the ISREC Foundation.

Congratulations to our director, Prof. Susan M. Gasser: she has been presented the 2024 Swiss Who’s Who public choice award, honoring outstanding women in Switzerland.

This recognition underlines Prof. Gasser’s dedication, passion and positive impact on scientific research.

The ISREC Foundation extends its warmest congratulations to Prof. Andrea Alimonti who has been appointed the new director of the Institute of Oncology Research (IOR) starting January 1, 2024.

The ISREC Foundation is proud to be able to draw on the internationally recognized scientific expertise of Prof. Alimonti, a member of its Scientific Board.

Prof. Alimonti has received numerous Swiss and international awards honoring his remarkable contributions to cancer research. He is, in particular, renowned for his groundbreaking research on prostate cancer biology. His work has already led to promising new therapeutic approaches for this common malignant tumor in men.

Congratulations to Prof. Johanna Joyce, a former member of the AGORA community, who has been elected a Fellow of the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) for 2024. Each year, the AACR honors scientists whose contributions have led to significant advances in the fight against cancer.

The AACR, a global working group consisting of renowned scientists, is dedicated to preventing and healing cancer through research, education, communication, collaboration, science policy and advocacy, as well as funding for cancer research.

Congratulations to our scientific director, who, during her time in the Swiss Science Council (2016-2023), contributed to projects that may lead to innovations in medical research and to changes in the political system.

Well known for outstanding basic research and its superior system for the funding and promotion of science, Switzerland emphasizes the importance of interdisciplinary collaborations when tackling pressing global issues.
